ARE BENTOLOGY PRODUCTS COMPATIBLE WITH LAPTOP LUNCHES PRODUCTS?
Yes, all of the 2.0 Laptop Lunches lunchboxes and Buddies containers are completely compatible with all Lunchboxlogy products, including the Portion Perfect lunchbox. However, if you have the ORIGINAL products (manufactured before 2009 with the cartoon character logo on top), the 2.0 containers will not fit inside your ORIGINAL outer Lunchbox.

WHY DO ONLY 3 CONTAINERS IN THE LUNCHBOX HAVE LIDS?
Traditional Japanese Lunchboxes have no lids on any of the inner containers. When the box is opened, all of the food inside is nicely displayed and easily accessible. Our lunch box was designed so that some of the containers would still be open for easy access to food and others would be leak proof for wet foods. The two open containers can hold dry ingredients and food will not spill out, because the lid of the Lunchbox holds the food in place. If you require more lidded containers, consider purchasing the 4 piece Box Set to increase the versatility of your Classic 6 piece Lunchbox Set on days when you want to pack more wet foods.
WILL AN ICE PACK FIT IN YOUR LUNCHBOX? WHAT ABOUT A WATER BOTTLE?
Ice packs and bottles are not meant to fit inside the Lunchbox itself. The Lunchbox is meant to be placed in an insulated bag or sleeve with an ice pack resting next to the Lunchbox if needed. There is space for ice packs and bottles in all of our insulated bags, but please note, there is no space for a drink bottle in the sleeve option.
HOW CAN I WASH MY INSULATED BAG?
We recommend cleaning the bags with a damp cloth (or soft wet brush for the outside) and then letting them air dry. However, for a more thorough cleaning, hand washing in warm soapy water works well. Soak the bag for about 30 minutes and then rinse and towel off the excess water before leaving out to air dry completely. The bags can also be washed on the top rack of the dishwasher, using NO heat boosters. Again, towel off and air dry.
Please note: The insulated bags are NOT machine washable and can get damaged even when using a front load machine on the delicate cycle. Use at your own risk.
HOW CAN I KEEP MY FOOD HOT?
The Lunchbox Set was designed for cold and room temperature foods only. We recommend packing it inside an insulated bag with non-toxic coolpack. To keep foods hot, consider using one of our insulated Lunchbox Jars. The Lunchbox Jars will fit inside the insulated lunch bags if the Lunchbox is NOT used at the same time. Use 1 or 2 lidded containers from your Lunchbox lunch box and place next to the Lunchbox Jar to pack additional food items in the lunch bag.
CAN I FIT THE CLASSIC 6 PIECE LUNCHBOX SET, A LUNCHBOX JAR, AND A DRINK BOTTLE IN THE INSULATED BAGS?
If you would like to pack a Lunchbox Jar, it will fit into Dhalia Bag And Elegant Bag. It will fit in the other lunch bags (not the sleeves) if you remove the Lunchbox Set and use one or two of the lidded containers instead. The drink bottle will still fit in the outside pouch of the lunch bags.
ARE THE INNER CONTAINERS MICROWAVE SAFE?
Our plastic containers are all FDA-approved for microwave use. However, some experts believe that microwaving in plastics of any kind may be hazardous. If you microwave in plastics, our containers are fine, but please use short, 15-20 second intervals of time, so the containers do not over heat and warp. Please also note that the lids are not microwave safe.
ARE THE CONTAINERS DISHWASHER SAFE? WHAT ABOUT THE LUNCHBOX JARS?
Yes, the Lunchbox outer container and inner containers are dishwasher safe (top rack only, away from the heating element). CAUTION: Laptop Lunch containers may warp if exposed to very hot temperatures. DO NOT use heat boosters. DO NOT wash in the dishwasher on high heat.
The Lunchbox jars are not considered dishwasher safe and should be hand washed with warm soapy water.
DOES THE LUNCHBOX (OUTER CONTAINER) LEAK?
The outer container itself will not keep wet foods from leaking out. However, if you pack your wet foods in the leak proof inner containers with lids, they should not leak (please release extra air pressure by burping the containers before packing). The open containers are designed to accommodate dry foods such as sliced apple, carrot and celery sticks, crackers, and pretzels. The Lunchbox lid rests on top of the open containers, so the food will not spill out.
I HAVE HEARD THAT SOME PLASTICS CAN CAUSE HEALTH PROBLEMS. SHOULD I BE CONCERNED ABOUT THAT?
We are also concerned about toxins in our food and in the environment. Thus we take great care to ensure that we use the safest materials available. For this reason we manufacture our lunch box containers here in California using plastics (polypropylene and polyethylene) that are FDA-approved for food use. None of our products contain phthalates, bisphenols (BPA or BPS), lead or PVC.
Most parents currently pack lunches in plastic wrap, plastic bags, and single-serve plastic packages, including PET water bottles, which are considered far less stable than their reusable counterparts. Plastic may not be the perfect solution, but it does offer a stylish, affordable, non-breakable alternative for families wishing to move from a disposable to a reusable system.

MY CHILD IS HAVING TROUBLE OPENING THE BOX. CAN YOU OFFER SOME GUIDANCE?
Sure! Young children do sometimes have trouble opening the Lunchboxes at first, but with some practice, most children over 4 or 5 are able to get the hang of it pretty quickly. We suggest lots of practice at home with an empty box before sending them off to school. Make sure they know to push the latch tab IN – once it is pushed in far enough, the latch will release. Holding the box sideways (rotate a quarter turn) so it’s facing the dominant hand may also make it easier. Have your child place their thumb on the top piece of the latch and push in with their finger/s.
THE LIDS ON SOME OF MY INNER CONTAINERS ARE TOO TIGHT. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Yes. Sometime the lids can tighten up if left off their container, especially in cold temperatures. The lids can be softened by heating under hot running water for about 15 seconds. Dry the lid off, place on the container tightly, so every edge and corner is pushed down to the line on the outside rim of the container and then let the lid cool for a few hours. Store the lid on the container when not in use to keep it stretched out and easy to use.
MY LUNCHBOX DOESN’T CLOSE ALL THE WAY. IS IT DEFECTIVE?
Probably not. Because of the way the Lunchbox is designed, it is normal for there to be a gap between the top and bottom of the outer container. The Laptop Lunches lunch box is not meant to be air tight. Dry foods should not be able to spill out of the open containers if the gap is less than 5mm. If the gap is larger than that or the corners seem to flare up more than you like, please e-mail us (with a photo if possible) and we can help resolve the issue.
