Hasselback Potatoes

Hasselback Potatoes

What is Hasselback potato?

This sound name comes from the Swedish word Hasselback, a Stockholm restaurant where it was first served.

Hasselback fries are impressive in appearance, but they also collect in one place everything that can be desired from a baked potato – these fries have the crunchy edges of your favorite French fries, but inside they are creamy like mashed potatoes.

Do you want another reason to make them tonight? How about the fact that despite their chic look, they are prepared very quickly?

Tips for perfection:

Choose several potatoes of the same size . Wash it well and cut slits straight down through each potato but stop before cutting to the end so that the potato retains its shape. Make the slices 2-3 mm thick.

This is important because when you cut the potatoes, the slices are too tight for the oil to come down into the cracks. But about halfway through the cooking, the potatoes start to dissolve. This gives you some space to grease the slits with oil.

You can put in the slits yellow cheese or bacon for a variety.

Make a few Hasselback potatoes for dinner or a whole tray for your dinner party. Any dinner – large or small, casual, or refined – can only be improved with the addition of Hasselback potatoes.

And you must save one or two potatoes for the lunchbox for the next day.
