These amazing Swedish buns are inspired by their so popular cinnamon buns, but as kids love chocolate more then cinnamon we have made both – half the dough with cinnamon half with chocolate filling.
If you haven’t tried Swedish buns we assure you that they will leave a strong impression on your taste buds and will make you want to bake them at home from scratch.
There is ONE thing for Swedish buns – THEIR uniquely beautiful shape.
The buns have a subtle butter-sugar-cinnamon flavor, making them a great light breakfast, unlike American cinnamon rolls that tend to be heavy on the icing. Make sure to bring your butter to room temperature before making the filling so that it’s soft enough to mix and spread on the dough.
There seem to be several ways to shape the buns. Look at the visual guide to get a better idea on how we have shaped them. If it seems confusing, we suggest twisting the strips and shaping them into a snail-shell shape.
Bon app!
TIP:
Layer the roll dough with cream cheese, add some salmon and you will have a lovely savory snack.
