At a popular sushi restaurant I have heard overhead the sushi chef tell a waiter that he adds over 3 quarts of sugar to each batch of rice. That’s 34 gr of added sugar per cup of rice. We all know that rice has a high glycemic index, but that sure is another reason not to eat restaurant made sushi.
