The legend says that these little cakes were made by a pâtissier who baked in La Bourse, the financial district of Paris. He made little cakes in the shape of gold bars to sell to his financial clients, hence the name financiers.
Traditional financiers are sweet, but we find they are great when we make them savory bites for the Lunchbox or for an apero.
The filling can be any ingredients you have in your fridge, just make sure you cut them into small pieces.
The best tin is the traditional rectangular Financier tin with 20 sections, to bake 30 financiers. If you do not have this tin at home, use the one you use for mini muffins. Yes, you will not get the classical bar shape that gives the financiers their name, but wills enjoy the taste.
